Chimney Brick Repointing

Initially, our scope was to install the replacement quarry tile deck on this gorgeous, Tudor-style home in South Oak Bay. We did this and diagnosed deterioration in both chimneys. With roofers booked in behind us, we scaffolded both structures and realized that a full re-point was required. Through the hottest weeks of the year, we removed the failed mortar with our Arbortechs, back pointed then front pointed the face brick whilst re-laying the ‘haunches’ and replacing the top ‘wash’. We are happy to report great results and chimneys that will continue to define this stunning house and location for many more decades.

Interesting Fact

Bricks started being manufactured in Victoria in the early 1850s.
