Work Location: Victoria, BC

Journeyman Mason

($30 – $36 per hour based on experience and competency.)

We have an opening for a professional Mason who is skilled in our trade and whose values align with ours. We are a team of professionals, who take great pride in our work. We are known for our traditional, yet creative work that is top quality and built to last. As the successful applicant you will have 5 years of masonry experience, with sound experience in at least two fields of masonry: stone, brick and/or veneer. You will be a mentor and influencer to our team of apprentices and labourers. As a team member you will be keen to contribute to a tight-knit group of masons and together we will push our careers forward with the Heritage family.

*Strong interpersonal skills and clear communications (verbally and in writing) are important for this role. Punctuality and strong personal organisation skills are essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Building with high competency with various masonry units and build formats for residential, commercial, and heritage builds;
  • Hitting production benchmarks and daily build targets efficiently;
  • Laying bricks and/or stone veneer and fullbed facing;
  • Build patios, garden walls and other landscape installations;
  • Lay bricks and/or stones to build or conserve residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces;
  • Remove, fabricate, and replace stone elements in heritage structures;
  • Instruct/mentor apprentices

Apprentice Mason

($24.50 – $29.50 per hour based on experience and competency)

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Building with high competency with various masonry units and build formats;
  • Following directions of masons on the build and assisting the labourers with site needs;
  • Tooling joints to designated finish of mason onsite;
  • Ensure masons’ work stations are prepared, well stocked and tidy;
  • Staging their build areas including scaffolding;
  • Following and enforcing site safety protocols;
  • Hitting build benchmarks and daily build targets efficiently;
  • Housekeeping site including cleaning their mixing station and mixing tools, ensuring safe access at all times, ensuring supplies are protected and in appropriate places, clearing work areas of clutter site safety and access ensured, collecting and consolidating waste and debris, protecting tools and site works;
  • Ensuring site is tidy and tools are clean secured at end of shift;
  • Posting daily productivity targets along with pictures of the progress to management and leads.

Masonry Labourer

($20.50-$24 per hour based on experience and attitude)

Heritage Masonry specializes in historic restoration and high-end residential brick and stone projects. We work on castles, cathedrals and ocean front estates.

About You and the Role:
  • You have experience working in different trades (masonry, construction, culinary etc.).
  • You were successful in previous positions by being organized, with strong eye-hand coordination and an excellent work ethic.
  • You are keen to learn and build a career for yourself in the masonry trade. The reputation of the company you work for is just as important to you as the work you do. Being a part of a professional trades team who will not compromise quality, customer service and teamwork is essential.
  • You are physically strong and able to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • You would like to grow into a seasoned mason one day.
  • You are punctual, excellent time keeping and personal organisation is a requirement.

Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Provide support to the Stone Mason
  • Accurately mix mortar while maintaining timelines
  • Site management & site set up and clean-up
  • Keeping track of tools and materials

You will learn to anticipate the needs of the Stone Mason and overtime your training will increase to allow you to develop in the trade. To be successful in this role, you will take direction well, be able to learn our techniques and have a true appreciation for the heritage work we create. You arrive on site early, display dedication and consistency. You are diligent without being managed.

The successful applicant is required to have a driver’s license, steel-toed boots and basic hand tools.

Logistics Coordinator
Work Location: Victoria, BC

Logistics Coordinator

The logistics coordinator’s primary role is to liase between the site operations and the project administration and management. The job role is to independently manage the logistics of site supply/delivery; tracking and maintaining company assets; and planning and communicating with site leads for fluid productivity. It requires that you apply and proactively develop company systems that facilitate said duties in an efficient manner whilst learning and adapting to challenges and multi-tasking with a requirement for planning and adapting in the field. Inspecting site setups and equipment for safety and maintenance of tools, small equipment and vehicles is also a key role.

Required Training/Certificates/Licenses/Abilities:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • WHMIS training certification
  • Fall Arrest / Working at Heights training certification
  • Level 1 First-aid Certification
  • In-house staging/setup Training
  • Fit and Strong to perform Site Labour when required
  • Small equipment repair knowledge strongly desired
Duties/Roles:
  • Requesting, collecting and delivering material/tool/equipment to active sites
  • Mobilizing, staging, and demobilizing sites
  • Liaising with site leads, administration and management
  • Communicating proactively with elected staff as site stock liaison
  • Cleaning, organization and stocking of yard and warehouse
  • Managing and organizing site boxes and first aid stations
  • Training of inexperienced labourers on crew to company standards
  • Managing, tracking and organizing the service/maintenance of equipment/tools/assets
  • Collecting, organizing, and submitting of site purchase receipts and documents
  • Reporting abuse of company tools, equipment, or policies
  • Coordinating with suppliers and delivery drivers for procurement practices
  • General labouring duties when required to support sites
Accountabilities:
  • Yard and warehouse stock upkeep
  • Tending to site needs, stocking consumables & organizing deliveries
  • Truck, tool and asset tracking and management
  • Auditing of deliveries and communicating deficiencies
  • Training labourers
  • Material handling
  • Relaying information from sites to administration and project coordinators/managers
  • Punctual, precise, and organized deliveries of requested items
  • Ensuring Daily, Weekly & Monthly “Routines Checklists” are followed and completed thoroughly.
